What We Offer & How We Can Help

Making Sense of Therapy

Here at the Healing Center we like to help in whatever way we can. We believe that life does not have to be as complicated as we make it. We are wired for relationship, and making sense of our relationships is a significant part of being human. In all we do we work towards helping you and your loved ones reconnect to what matters.

Whether you've experienced difficult things in life, are having trouble in significant relationships, are struggling to connect as a family, or simply want to deal with life as it is so that it can be as it should; we are here to help.

Trauma

Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, but any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and isolated can result in trauma, even if it doesn’t involve physical harm.

Emotional and psychological trauma can be caused by:

  • One-time events, such as an accident, injury, or a violent attack, especially if it was unexpected or happened in childhood.

  • Ongoing, relentless stress, such as living in a crime-ridden neighborhood, battling a life-threatening illness or experiencing traumatic events that occur repeatedly, such as bullying, domestic violence, or childhood neglect.

  • Commonly overlooked causes, such as surgery (especially in the first 3 years of life), the sudden death of someone close, the breakup of a significant relationship, or a humiliating or deeply disappointing experience, especially if someone was deliberately cruel.

Whatever it is, we want to help you process and move forward in life.

So often we find ourselves simply doing what we have always done, stuck in the same patterns of interaction, hoping that something will change. Family therapy offers you and your loved one's a chance to make things different.

Addressing issues in family life is a basic part of being human. Whether you need to deal with life alone or with your family present, we can help you move towards understanding and clarity so that you can enjoy family life.

We work with individuals, siblings, parent/child dynamics, and anything else that disrupts family life.

Child/Teen

Many times, children and teens come to therapy skeptical and scared. Part of effective therapy requires a genuine relationship between the therapist and the patient. It is extremely important that parents and their children are comfortable and feel safe, as this is vital for honest and authentic communication.

When this happens, there can be growth and healing. If you are considering counseling for your child, please call us for a free consultation over the phone.
