About

The Healing Center for Trauma & Relationships

Our Philosophy

Responsible care for clients and clinicians alike

The Healing Center for Trauma & Relationships exists to provide quality care for those in our community. We are both personal and professional, creating a therapeutic environment of encouragement, support, and healing. We deal primarily with trauma and the more difficult things of life as we seek to bridge the gap between excellent therapy and those in need.

We believe that the care we show one another as a team of clinicians affects not only our team but everyone we come in contact with. We know that you cannot make people change, but you can create a context in which it is possible. That is what we do. We work towards creating an environment where change is not only possible, but pursued.

We look forward to being a part of your journey.

Our Story

How HCTR got started

The Healing Center for Trauma & Relationships has evolved from the work of Teressa Wilcox, LMFT.  Since the late 1990’s, Teressa has worked with those affected by abuse, trauma, and less than ideal relationships.  As her passion for Marriage & Family therapy expanded, so has her career.  Teressa and her family have been on several short term mission trips, most recently serving full time missionaries with free counseling.  Teressa joined Hope International University in 2011 and has since been a professor and Supervisor in the MFT Graduate Program.  Teressa has sustained a successful private practice in Huntington Beach, CA over the last two decades.

The years of experience in teaching, supervising, mentoring, and running a private practice have now merged into the vision of a training clinic for new and upcoming therapists. In 2020, after COVID-19 hit, the need for psychotherapy exponentially increased, prompting for the launch of Teressa’s vision.  The Healing Center for Trauma & Relationships is the start to providing quality care for clients and mentored experience and trainings for therapists.
